Kal Lavelle (Hot for 2012 – Ones to watch – The Sunday Mirror) releases a brand new video to accompany the stunning track, Gypsy blood, from her EP Shivers. One of our favourite tracks off the EP and the video stars actor Selina MacDonald who was last seen in Ed Sheeran’s music video for his Top 10 hit ‘The A Team’.

Both girls destined for great things! Kal has had the thumbs up from nearly every one that matters. Three of her tracks have featured on Tom Robinson’s BBC Radio 6 show & her song ‘Downstairs’ was selected for the BBC Introducing Podcast. She was recently asked as a special guest on the show, which was broadcast Nationwide.

Not a one trick poney Kal turns her hand to any genre and her voice fits in perfectly where ever she puts it. Kal’s vocals can currently also be heard on Artful Mark Hill’s (Artful Dodger) track ‘Could Just Be The Bassline’. The track has featured on Music Week’s prestigious ‘Playlist’,  and was MistaJam’s (Radio 1 & Radio 1xtra) ‘Jam Hot record of the week’.

She truly is one of the most exciting voices we’ve heard in 2012.

Describe your music in three words?

Empowering, fun, soulful.

What music are you listening to at the moment?

I always listen to Brian McKnight, he is one of my biggest idols, Other than him right now I am listening to Boyz2men, Joe, Dikta, JoJo, Bruno Mars, Owl City, Stephen Marley.

When you’re not writing/making music, what are you doing?

Outside of writing and creating music I work, chill, listen to music, study music, I’m a firm believer that you should really know about your trade, different genres, even if they aren’t to your preference, you have to understand music and respect it all. I find listening to people you love and people you usually wouldn’t listen to are the biggest musical lessons of all.

What is your biggest vice?

DORITOS!!!! Oh my lord! I just love them! Especially with houmus but I wouldn’t NOT eat them if there wasn’t any.

Last time you cried?

I’m an artist, I like to believe we’re sensitive souls! Haha, I last cried after I said bye to my family the last time I went to see them, I love my family very much, its always very difficult to say goodbye!

When was the last time you were embarrassed?

When my boyfriend’s friend walked in on me having a tinkle on the toilet… Yep, a bit red-faced, I mean what can you do, it’s happened now! Yikes!

What do you Love?

MUSIC!!!

What’s your most treasured possession?

I don’t have a treasured possession there are things I like a lot that I own but, I believe the things in life like memories, music, laughter and love are what I treasure the most.

Describe your style?

I don’t think I really have a style I love clothes! I love a bit of quirkiness, I think its all about choosing one thing, one item of clothing, a pair of shoes, or an accessory and working your outfit around that!

Before recording their debut album late last year they supported Stereophonics on their UK tour playing at the likes of Wembley and the O2. Not bad eh?!

They have performed twice at Scotland’s premiere Music Festival T in the Park and played on the main stage at RockNess. Not bad eh?

They have been played several times on Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio Scotland, Real Radio and Clyde 1 as well as several appearances on TV including a recent spot on Soccer Am (and I bet they didn’t have to do it booty shorts)!

Thier debut album “I’ll Be Your Audience” is out 2nd April and here is a video for their first single!  This is my latests Lilly Loves!

You may know him from his collaborations with man of the moment Wretch 32, as the sweet voice on ‘Don’t Go’. Which Josh re-worked with Wretch 32, leading to a #1 single!

He’s graced the stages of Glastonbury and V, as well as ‘Later With Jools Holland’ and Radio One’s Live Lounge. AND  can been see supporting our own #LillyLoves Delilah on her April tour!

What music are you listening to at the moment?

I am currently listening to a couple of albums over and over again. One album that I can’t get enough of is the Ben Howard album ‘Every Kingdom’. I have also got the SBRTKT album on repeat.

When you’re not writing/making music, what are you doing?

When I do get a bit of time off which is not that often, I enjoy a little game of cards with my mates

What is your biggest vice?

lying in Q&A’s (Hopefully he hasn’t lied to us)

Last time you cried?

I can’t actually remember but I have been told that I had a tear or two when i played at V festival. I swear it was sweat!

When was the last time you were embarrassed?

I played at Wakestock last summer and its one performance I will never forget. I played ‘Don’t go’ to 4000 people to find out at the end that the microphone wasn’t on.

What do you Love?

Camden.

What’s your most treasured possession?

It would have to be my new Gibson guitar!

Describe your style?

Worn.

The best book you’ve read?

It would have to be Shantaram, check it out!

The best and worst thing about going on tour?

The best thing on tour is getting on stage and being able to perform to different people every night. The worst thing is the traveling.
